The Blind Side (2009)
The Blind Side, directed by John Lee Hancock, is based on the true story of American football player, Michael Oher, and his transformation from homeless teen to NFL star.
The biographical drama revolves around Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, a couple who rescue Michael Oher from the streets and give him his first opportunity in his life to succeed. His large frame made him an invaluable player on the football field and after help from a tutor and his coach, he was able to qualify for an NCAA Division I athletic scholarship.
Featuring several famous faces including Sandra Bullock and Kathy Bates, The Blind Side is certainly a must-watch.
Rocky (1976)
Rocky is an all-time classic and, if you love boxing, it’s not one to overlook. The film follows Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone), a struggling boxer from Philadelphia, who ends up with the rare chance to fight world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed.
There are several sequels and a spin-off film series, so if you enjoy Rocky then you’ll also uncover plenty more to keep you busy!
Invictus (2009)
Starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, Invictus tells the true story of Nelson Mandela’s attempt to unite the nation through rugby. Teaming up with South Africa’s rugby team captain, Francois Pienaar, President Mandela rallies behind the rugby team during the 1995 Rugby World Cup, which they won.
With the Six Nations (one of the most anticipated rugby tournaments of the year) well underway, now is the perfect time to watch Invictus and get in the rugby spirit.
Eddie the Eagle (2015)
Another true story, Eddie the Eagle depicts the events of the 1988 Winter Olympics, where underdog ski jumper, Michael ‘Eddie’ Edwards won the hearts of sports fans across the world with his showing at the Calgary Winter Olympics.
Despite his late start in the sport, the feel-good story shows Eddie’s determination to succeed.
The cast is led by Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton, who give heart to this British, feel-good comedy.

Based on true events, Foxcatcher is a dark biographical drama that explores the relationship between two brothers, Mark and Dave Schultz, and their trainer, John du Point, as they train for the 1988 Olympic Games.
